Official: Hearing under Rule 69

Hearing under Rule 69

11 Mar 2015, 08:33:29

Sometime after sailing on Friday, the Skipper Andrew Budgen and Navigator Russell Grant had serious doubts as to whether or not they had sailed the correct course in Race 1 of the Regatta.

Despite these doubts neither the Skipper not the Navigator made any effort to investigate whether or not they had sailed the course thus adhering to rule 28.1.

The Skipper stated during the hearing that "at some point on Sunday he had a pretty good idea that they had not sailed the proper course but would not retire due to pressure from some of the charter guests".

The Skipper and Navigator broke the Basic Principles of Sportsmanship and the Rules and committed Gross Misconduct.

Conclusion:

The Skipper and Navigator of RUS 1 broke rule 69.1 (a) and shall receive a warning.
